The fund invests primarily in U.S. Government obligations, including debt securities issued or guaranteed by the U.S. Treasury, U.S. Government agencies or government-sponsored entities. At least 80% of the fund’s net assets are invested in U.S. Government obligations and repurchase agreements collateralized by U.S. Government obligations and up to 20% of the fund’s net assets are invested in non-government investment-grade debt securities. These securities may have fixed, floating or variable rates and also include mortgage-backed securities. The fund may also use futures for duration and yield curve management. The portfolio manager employs a top-down, macroeconomic outlook to determine the portfolio’s duration, yield curve positioning and sector allocation. In combination with their top-down, macroeconomic approach, the portfolio manager employs a bottom-up process of fundamental securities analysis to select the specific securities for investment. Elements of this evaluation may include duration measurements, historical yield spread relationships, volatility trends, mortgage refinance rates, as well as other factors.

The Overall Morningstar Rating™ for the underlying fund is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five- and 10-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating™ metrics. The rating formula most heavily weights the three year rating, using the following calculation: 100% three-year rating for 36-59 months of total returns, 60% five-year rating/40% three-year rating for 60-119 months of total returns, and 50% 10-year rating/30% five-year rating/20% three-year rating for 120 or more months of total returns. Rating does not include the effects of sales charges, loads, and redemption fees. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Ratings are as follows: 3yr=2; 5yr=2; 10yr=3.
